Left Jekyll Island a Day Early!

Ken was up by 6:30 and did some looking on the internet at the weather.  7:15 was my time to get up and we started chatting about the upcoming weather on Jekyll Island and on Interstate 95 North.  It was very cloudy but supposed to get beautiful on the island before lunch.  We have an app that gives the weather for Interstate 95 from Maine to Florida and after reviewing that, we decided it would be a good idea to leave this morning to avoid the predicted bad weather for Wednesday evening into Thursday.

So, we started prepping for leaving.  I called Nancy and told her our plans and she said they would come down to say good-bye.  We finished packing up by 8:45 when they stopped by.  We all agreed that we had a great time here and look forward to spending some time together this summer when both of us are camping at Hershey!  We were sad to leave early, but we knew it was a good decision.

Ken followed me to a large parking lot in the center of the island where we hooked up the CRV.  We left by 9:30 and were on Interstate 95 by 10:10.  I called Noela and discovered that they were only 27 miles behind us - they were heading to Myrtle Beach.  We kept in touch throughout our drive and when we stopped at Exit 82 in South Carolina for gas and lunch at a Wendy's, they pulled in about 20 minutes after we got there and we chatted while eating our lunch.  I can't believe we were able to get together without any pre-planning.  What a hoot!

We said our good-byes again and were back on the road.  Ken and I traveled 455 miles today pulling into a KOA at Exit 154 in North Carolina.  It was a long day of driving but Ken did a great job.  We did miss the turn into the CG and after going about 2 miles out of the way, we pulled to the side of the road and unhooked the CRV.  I followed Ken back to the CG.  We were set-up quickly, made salads for dinner, and then I worked on this blog.  We should have a little under 400 miles to travel tomorrow and hope to arrive in Lititz by mid afternoon.  But, who knows - you have heard about the best laid plans!!!!!

We were in bed by 9:15 an d plan to "hit the road" earlier tomorrow than our 9:30 AM departure today!  It certainly was a perfect day to travel and here in northern North Carolina it is still 71 degrees and only going to 54 - Wow! Usually by this time on our way home we need long pants and sweatshirts!

Good Night!
